French Cooperation Attache (M/F) – French Embassy in Nigeria at Alliance Francaise de Lagos

Alliance Française is a local non-profit organisation led by an elected committee of members and an executive director, with the support of the Embassy of France in Nigeria. We teach French to adults and children, we are centres for official French exams and we organise cultural activities promoting local and francophone cultures.

Synthetic Description of the Position

  • You will have to design, program and implement the educational cooperation policy in Nigeria. You will have to supervise the educational activity at the French Institute of Nigeria and replace the director.
  • You will be responsible for developing relationships with educational partners: ministries, Colleges of Education, schools, French-speaking representations.
  • In conjunction with the national coordinator of the Alliances Françaises (AF), you will monitor the network (administrative aspects, development of the course offering and certifications, training, quality approach).

Main Activities

  • To the Service of cooperation and cultural action (SCAC) : Development, impetus and implementation of the cooperation strategy of the position in the field of’enseignement, diffusion and promotion of French. Animation and follow-up of actions in favor of the development of the’teaching of French in the French cultural and linguistic network (1 Institut Francais) and 10 Alliances Francais (referent SCAC des AF), organization and facilitation of training for teachers, follow-up of DELF authorizations and central management of DELF-DALF exams. Define and implement multi-year projects (FEF, FEF-R, FEF+, IF Paris calls for projects) to ensure the influence of the French language. Selection of language fellows and administrative follow-up ; piloting of the program « English language assistants in France » – FEI.Support to national associations of French teachers and follow-up of their activities.
  • Maintenance and development of relations with federal educational authorities and monitoring of national policies relating to French : FME (Federal Ministry of Education), NCCE (National Commission for Colleges of Education), JAMB (Joint Admissions Matriculation Board), NECO (National Examination Council). Organization of the days of the francophonie (linguistic and educational projects) and the International day of French teachers. A l’French Institute of Nigeria (IFN): Steering of the’pedagogical offer and support in inter-service coordination.
  • In collaboration with the course director and the VI in charge of pedagogical mission, implementation and monitoring of the quality approach within the’IFN :facilitation of in-house teacher training, qualitative monitoring of the’course offer; supervision of the development of the’external course offer (monitoring of existing institutional partnerships; development of FOS programs and marketing) and activities related to the promotion and dissemination of French in Abuja (week of la Francophonie, international day of the French teacher, international, relations with partner schools).

Diplomas or Professional Experience Recommended to Perform the Duties

  • Professional of the’ teaching of the FLE and the formation, experience of the cooperation in Africa desired.
  • Knowledge or mastery of’a local language would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the region as well.
