Synthetic description of the position
- Under the authority of the Councilor of cooperation and cultural’action (COCAC), director of the’French Institute of Nigeria (IFN), France, you will follow the general areas of development cooperation and specifically humanitarian and civil society issues.
- You will pilot cooperation in human rights and related subjects (genre/equality, death penalty, LGTB rights, torture, fight against human trafficking, etc.).
- You will lead and strengthen ties with civil society. You will also be the focal point of the post for humanitarian issues, as well as for global issues in coordination with the political chancellery.
Main activities
The missions are as follows. –
- Monitoring of all areas of competence: health, humanitarian, environment, civil society, human rights. in close connection with the Chancery, exploitation of information from the implementation of the arrangements, including strategic and forward-looking analyses, diplomatic reports and notes. organisation of events related to sectoral activities, in particular with civil society and the debate of ideas. –
- Supervision of a VIA. – On areas of competence, inter-service coordination and with external partners (Direction of the’European Union (DUE), French Development Agency (AFD), International Organizations (OIs), etc, Non-governmental organizations (ONG). –
- Monitoring of the implementation of the programmed FOOD AID’,from the’action of stabilization and interventions of the Center of Crisis and Support (CDCS). –
- Budget follow-up.
Diplomas or professional experience recommended to perform the duties
- Appetence for development cooperation issues in general, humanitarian in particular. Prior field experience abroad.
- Ability to understand crisis contexts (population displacement, food crisis, degraded security context).
- Good writing skills, in french and english, and ability to communicate in public.
- Knowledge, a taste for teamwork, loyalty and a sense of common interest.
- Knowledge or mastery of’a local language, would be an asset.
- Knowledge of the region as well.
